Playing Conditions - 2 day Matches

1. Start of Play: Cessation of Play:

1.1 The Hours of Play:
First Day: 10.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.
Second Day: 10.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
On the second day by mutual agreement the Captains may cease play one hour early provided there is no possibility of a result.

1.2 Intervals:
(i) Lunch: 1st day 12.50pm to 1.30pm; 2nd day 12.20pm to 1.00pm

An early lunch may be taken if bad weather prevents play in the morning session, subject to the agreement of the Umpires.

(ii) Tea: 1st day 3.40pm to 4.00pm; 2nd day 3.10pm to 3.30pm

These times may be varied in the event of bad weather, subject to the approval of the Umpires.

1.3 Play shall continue on each day until the completion of a minimum number of overs or until the scheduled cessation time, whichever is the later. The initial minimum number of overs to be completed on any day (unless there is an interruption to play) is 110. This is calculated at 17 overs per hour and rounded off to 110 overs.
The minimum number of overs per day shall be reduced by 3 for each break between innings. However, there is no reduction if the break between innings coincides with a lunch or tea interval.

1.4 If play is suspended, the minimum number of overs to be bowled in the day shall be calculated on whichever of the following two bases produces the greatest number of overs.
either
One over for each full 3.5 minutes playing time remaining till the scheduled time for close of play (see calculation sheet)
or
The minimum number of overs agreed for the day, less the number of overs already bowled and less all allowances for suspension of play.

1.5 On the last day 17 overs must be bowled in the last hour. The start of the last hour may be delayed so that it commences when 17 of the agreed minimum overs remain to be bowled.

1.6 Extension of Play
The hours may be extended on either day to make up for lost time in a day’s play because of light, weather, or any other unavoidable circumstances.
• Notwithstanding this, play must not be scheduled to go beyond 7pm on Day 1 nor 6.30 on Day 2.
• When the hours of play per day are extended beyond the usual 6 ½ hours the minimum number of overs per day will increase by 1 over for every full 3.5 minutes of extra playing time (ie 17 overs per hour).
• The total number of scheduled hours must not exceed 13 hours.
• Lunch and tea intervals may be adjusted to suit the extended hours, with the agreement of the Umpires and Match Manager.
• Games may start up to 30 minutes early on the second day if more than one hour’s play is lost on Day 1.

4. Fitness of Ground, Weather and Light – Law 3.8 and 3.9 as Per NZC First Class Playing Conditions

5. The Ball – Law 5 as per the NZC First Class Playing Conditions. Except that Kookaburra Regulation balls should be used.
New Ball: as per NZC First Class Playing Conditions i.e the Captain of the fielding side may request a newball at the completion of 80 overs.

6. The Pitch – Law 5 as per NZC First Class Playing Conditions.

7. The Toss – As per NZC First Class Playing Conditions. This is now one hour before start of play.

8. Declarations and Forfeiture – Law 14

8.1 It is not the intention that any declaration or forfeiture should become the subject of an agreement between captains. If the Umpires have grounds for thinking that such an agreement has taken place, they shall report accordingly to the NDCricket Operations Manager, and if NDC is satisfied the agreement is proven, any points scored in that match shall be forfeited.

8.2 No team shall be allowed to declare its First Innings closed until at least one hour of playing time has elapsed since the start of that innings.

9. Tea Interval – Law 15.8. As per NZC First Class Playing Conditions.

10. Dangerous and Unfair Bowling – as per NZC First Class Playing Conditions.


Playing Conditions - One Day Matches

1. The Competition

1.1 All one day rounds in 2010/2011 count as Fergus Hickey/Hawke Cup Elimination games for 2011.

2.2 The one day round in January 2010 will also count towards finding the Hawke Cup Elimination challenger for 2011.

3.3 The final will not count towards the Fergus Hickey/Hawke Cup Elimination, but the winner will receive the Brian Dunning Trophy. If no final result is achieved the highest points scorer in the round robin will receive the trophy. If the finalists were equal on points the Trophy will be awarded to the winner of the round robin game between the two finalists.

2. The Pitch
If the weather prevents a game being played on a turf pitch, then an artificial pitch may be used. However, both pitch and outfield must be of a suitable standard as determined by the Umpires in consultation with the Captains.

3. Duration As per Domestic cricket

3.1 A match will constitute one innings per side, and each innings per side, and each innings will be limited to 50 overs.

2.2 A minimum of 20 overs per team will constitute as a match.

4. Hours of Play
Start time will be as following, but may be changed by mutual agreement. If changes to starting times are made, the host Association must notify the Umpires.

4.1 Taupo Games (Rounds 1, 2, 3)
Start Times: Sunday 11.00am; Monday 10.30am; Tuesday 10.00am.
Lunch Interval: 40 mins between innings.
Where play is delayed or interrupted the latest finishing time shall be: Sunday 7.30pm; Monday 7.00pm; Tuesday 6.30pm.

The hours of play shall be extended if the side bowling second fails to bowl the necessary overs by the scheduled finishing time.

4.2 Rounds 4, 5 and Final

Start Time: 10.30am
Latest finishing time: 7.00pm
This time shall be extended if the side bowling second fails to bowl the necessary overs by the scheduled finishing time.

4.3 Where start of play is delayed or play is interrupted and the total paying time is reduced to less than 7 hours the Umpires may vary the length of the break according to Domestic cricket Rules.

4.4 Drinks as per Domestic cricket rules.

5. The Toss – This is now one hour before start of play.

6. Length of Innings – as per Domestic cricket. Note (i) teams are expected to bowl their 50 overs within 3hrs 30mins (ii) adjustments to overs in a delayed or interrupted match as per Domestic cricket, taking into account the scheduled finishing time.

7. The Result – as per Domestic cricket. However, if Duckworth/Lewis method is not available to establish target scores, then the system used at the National U17 Tournament should be used.

8. Number of overs per bowler – as perDomestic cricket ie 10 overs maximum per innings.

9. Fielding Restrictions – as per Domestic cricket, except that the fielding restriction overs apply only to the first 15 overs. If play is interrupted or delayed and overs are reduced refer to National U17 Tournament rules.

10. Wide Balls – as per Domestic cricket.

11. No Ball – as per Domestic cricket ie a bowler is allowed to bowl one short fast pitched delivery per over (ie a ball which passes or would have passed above the shoulder height of the striker standing upright at the crease. However, a ball above head height shall be called a wide.

12. Mode of Delivery
– No Bowler may deliver the ball underarm.

13. Time Wasting
– as per Domestic cricket.

14. Declarations – No declarations are permitted.
